Middle Island is a census-designated village located in Suffolk County, in the state of New York. The hamlet has a population of 10,400 people as per the 2010 census and borders Coram and Rocky Point Hamlets. Middle Island is predominantly residential and is served by the Longwood Central School District. The area saw an influx of settlers in the 17^th century when the first Presbyterian Church was built. Later in 1813, the first schoolhouse in the area was opened.
