The INFINITI Q70 is a great choice for those looking for luxury in an entry-level vehicle. You get the same performance as other luxury cars at a fraction of the cost, and you don’t have to sacrifice your style. The Q70 has earned itself quite a reputation as one of the best-priced vehicles in its class, but is it better than the Jaguar XJ? It’s time to find out!
Design & Style
In terms of exterior design, the INFINITI Q70 and Jaguar XJ have a lot in common. Both are four-door sedans with five-passenger seating, and both have similar wheelbase lengths. However, there are key differences between them. The INFINITI Q70 has an overall shorter wheelbase than the Jaguar XJ (116 inches versus 120 inches), and it has a smaller trunk capacity at 15 cubic feet compared to 21 cubic feet on the Jaguar XJ.
The INFINITI Q70 comes standard with LED headlights that illuminate automatically when you turn on your headlights or put your vehicle into reverse; these headlights also feature adaptive high beams that turn off other vehicles’ lights when they’re too close for comfort as well as pedestrian detection technology so pedestrians aren’t hit by drivers who don’t see them coming—a feature that’s not available on any models from Jaguar yet!
The interior design of the Q70 is modern and sophisticated while still being luxurious and comfortable. The XJ has a decidedly more traditional-looking interior that’s dominated by wood and leather.
Both vehicles offer plenty of space for passengers in the rear seats, with legroom comparable to most midsize sedans—but if you’re planning on hauling around any cargo back there, you’ll want to avoid the Jaguar and go with INFINITI’s larger Q70L model instead.
Technology & Safety
There’s no getting around the fact that the 2023 INFINITI Q70 will have better technology than the 2023 Jaguar XJ. The former features a head-up display, which projects critical information onto your windshield and can be configured to show only what you need at any given moment. You also get blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane departure warnings, and adaptive cruise control as standard equipment on higher trims.
The Jag also has some of these features (though it uses radar rather than cameras), but you don’t get them all unless you opt for an option package or take advantage of a dealer discount.
If you’re looking for a powerful engine, the INFINITI Q70 boasts a 3.7-liter V-6 engine that can produce 330 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The Jaguar XJ offers an upgraded 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine that can deliver 335 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.
In terms of fuel economy, the INFINITI Q70’s 19 mpg in city driving is lower than the Jaguar XJ’s 21 mpg in city driving but better than its 17 mpg on highways compared to 20 mpg on highways for the Jaguar XJ.
The Bottom Line
The INFINITI Q70 is a better car. It has more power, it handles better, and it has more interior space. The car’s higher price tag isn’t worth it for most people; but if you can afford the extra money and are looking for a luxury sedan that delivers on all fronts—look no further than the INFINITI Q70.
