2022 INFINITI QX80 vs. 2022 Lexus LX

The 2022 Lexus LX is a large sport utility vehicle with standardized safety tech, advanced infotainment, and the ability to operate off-road. But can it compete with the 2022 INFINITI QX80, a vehicle which is considered the emperor of SUVs because of its powerful engine, towing capacity and luxurious interior?

Design & Style

The QX80 can hold eight people in absolute comfort. It is INFINITI’s preeminent SUV and thus comes with the industry’s most advanced features and tech. Its latest updates for the year include the addition a twelve inch touch display, Android Auto wired and Apple CarPlay wireless, and enhanced smartphone compatibility. It comes in three trims, which are Sensory, Premium Select and Luxe.

The Lexus LX has 3 rows and can seat a maximum of seven passengers. A number of improvements have been made to it this year, including better fuel economy with more power and convenience. The engineers installed a central locking differential with hydraulic springs and active suspension, which increases its handling dynamics and comfort. Visually, the LX looks similar to previous generations with its flat sides and spindle front grille, but buyers have the option of eighteen or twenty two inch wheels.

Technology & Safety

The Lexus LX comes with numerous driver assistance functions, such as automated high beams, blind area monitoring, cyclist and pedestrian detection as well as emergency automatic brakes.  Comforts within its cabin include a camera with surround view, powered sunroof, climate control which covers four zones and seats that can be cooled or heated.

The INFINITI QX80 comes with every safety feature offered by the Lexus, including adapted cruise control, activated lane control, emergency automated brakes and blind area monitoring. It also has multiple airbags and comforts inside its cabin consist of a camera with surround view, navigation system, seventeen speaker audio system from Bose, climate control and powered tailgate. Its seats can also be heated or cooled as desired.

Performance

The INFINITI QX80 is powered by a V8, 5.6 liter engine that can generate 400 horsepower with the ability to tow 8500 pounds and accelerate from zero to sixty in 6.8 seconds. The Lexus LX is powered by a V6 engine that can generate 409 horsepower with the ability to tow 8,000 pounds and accelerate from zero to sixty in 6.9 seconds.

The Bottom Line

This is truly a battle of the SUV titans. Both vehicles are essentially tied when it comes to horsepower and safety features, but the QX80 seats one extra passenger and can tow a heavier load. And this combined with the Lexus LX’s tight third row, limited cargo space and hard to fold 2nd row seats make the INFINITI QX80 the winner.
