The INFINITI QX60 is a premium SUV designed to be the ultimate family vehicle. It has everything you need from a luxury SUV, including an elegant exterior design and luxurious interior features. The 2022 INFINITI QX60 offers something that drivers can’t find in the Acura MDX: a spacious third-row seat for adults or kids.
But we know there’s more to a good car than just being sexy and fast: It needs an excellent safety record and lots of space for your stuff to serve as your primary means of transportation without compromising style or comfort. That’s why we’ve decided to look at two stylish and family-friendly SUVs: The INFINITI QX60 and Acura MDX!
Design & Style
The 2022 INFINITI QX60 and the 2022 Acura MDX have similar exterior dimensions, but their shapes are quite different. The QX60’s design is more traditional, with a large grille and a smooth roofline that runs from front to back. The MDX has a longer hood than the QX60 for its larger engine, rounded headlights, and a distinct “beak” at the bottom of its front fascia that houses LED fog lights.
The QX60’s interior is also less modern-looking than the MDX’s. Its dash has fewer hard angles; it feels more like an SUV from 10 years ago than one from today. The instrument cluster has two analog dials instead of four digital screens; there are fewer buttons on its center console overall (although both vehicles still offer plenty); and while both have leather seats as standard equipment, only one offers heated/ventilated front seats (the MDX).
The center console and steering wheel are both angled toward the driver for better visibility and comfort, and the infotainment screen is an inch larger than the INFINITI QX60 display. There are also two USB ports up front instead of just one—a common sight in newer vehicles these days (and one less thing you must carry around if you’re going somewhere where you need a charge).
Technology & Safety
The 2022 INFINITI QX60 and the 2022 Acura MDX have multiple camera systems to help with parking and backing up. Additionally, both vehicles use a backup warning system that will sound an alert if it detects objects behind or beside you when you’re reversing. The 2022 Acura MDX also has automatic rear cross-traffic alerts (ARC) that can see traffic in adjacent lanes while backing out of a parking space or driveway.
The 2022 INFINITI QX60 has standard blind spot monitoring; lane keep assist with lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control. The Acura MDX also offers these features as part of optional driver assists packages designed specifically for each trim level.
The 2022 INFINITI QX60 comes standard with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, while the 2022 Acura MDX makes do with a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out up to 310 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.
The MDX wins this round because its engines are more powerful and efficient than the QX60.
The Bottom Line
Ultimately, it’s all about knowing what you want in a vehicle. If you like to have a lot of bells and whistles but don’t necessarily need them, then the QX60 may be right for you.
