2020 INFINITI QX50 vs. 2020 Ford Flex | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

2020 INFINITI QX50 vs. 2020 Ford Flex

The 2020 Ford Flex is a titanic SUV that seats seven and is powered by a V6 engine that is twin-turbo. The interior is both incredibly spacious and comfortable, and the asking price is reasonable. But can it compete against the 2020 INFINITI QX50, a vehicle which many regards as the top SUV in its class due to the standardized safety tech, state of the art engine, ultra-quiet interior and gorgeous appearance?

Design & Style

The INFINITI QX50 has a grille that is double-arched, with a pronounced hood and pillar kink in the roof’s rear. The exterior is silky smooth, with long flowing lines that highlight its sophistication and superior engineering. The cabin is classy, with diamond quilting and natural wood that will soothe the skin. Buyers also have the option of adding headliners made of blue suede to add even more elegance. When it comes to design, the Ford Flex is probably the most rectangular SUV on the market today. It has crisp lines with a presence that commands respect. Strakes have been stamped inside the sheet metal along the sides, which prevents it from looking too chunky, while the cabin has a clean, angular layout which is classy with the silver matte trim.

Technology & Safety

The Ford Flex is lacking when it comes to active safety features like emergency automatic brakes, and its headlights even received a poor rating from the IIHS. However, it does have seatbelt airbags for the second row, cruise control which is adaptive and impact warnings. Cabin perks include Apple CarPlay, eight-inch touchscreens, leather seats, and high-end speakers. The INFINITI QX50 is far more extensive when it comes to safety, protecting its passengers with emergency automated brakes, a camera for the rearview, frontal impact warnings, blind area monitoring, parking sensors, and semi-autonomous operation. Perks within the cabin include Bluetooth, eight-inch touchscreens, 2 zone climate controls, keyless ignition, and powered seats.

The INFINITI QX50 is equipped with a turbo 4 engine that is 2 liter and capable of generating 268 horsepower. The Ford Flex is equipped with a V6, 3.5-liter engine that is capable of generating 287 horsepower.

The Bottom Line

Although the Ford Flex is big and powerful, it will not protect its passengers as well as the INFINITI. Its design has become a bit dated and its fuel economy is lousy, so the QX50 wins, due to its superior technology, luxury features, and greater ability to protect those that are fortunate enough to drive (or be driven) in it.
