2020 INFINITI Q50 vs. 2020 Chevrolet Sonic | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

2020 INFINITI Q50 vs. 2020 Chevrolet Sonic

The 2020 Chevrolet Sonic has received lots of positive attention and praise for its affordability, spacious interior and turbo engine, a combination which is tough to beat. But how does it stack up against the 2020 INFINITI Q50, a lovely car which is the darling of many automobile enthusiasts due to its powerful V6 engine, opulent interior and cutting edge safety features?

Design & Style

The INFINITI Q50 is a good looking vehicle both outside and inside. The leather upholstery is very comfortable to sit on, and passengers will have plenty of space to stretch out during their journey. The exterior is punctuated with a hood that is sharply increased in front with haunches in the back that are pronounced.  The bumper has been updated so that it is wider near the bottom which is perfectly balanced by its dual tailpipes. The Chevrolet Sonic has spherical headlights that are combined with a prominent grille and oval-shaped outer frame that makes it resemble a hatchback. It has two fresh hues, which are Cayenne Orange Metallic and Oasis Blue, and the cabin seats a maximum of four.

Technology & Safety

The Chevrolet Sonic has received excellent crash-test grades. However, it doesn’t have emergency automated brakes, which might be a turn off for some buyers. Still, the NHTSA has awarded it five stars, and the compact car has also found favor with the IIHS. Passengers will be protected by frontal impact alerts, parking sensors, and blind area monitoring. Cabin perks include Bluetooth, the choice of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, and a steering wheel wrapped in leather. Unlike the Sonic, the Q50 does come with emergency automatic brakes, as well as lane control, cruise control, frontal collision alerts, and the ability to monitor blind spots. Its cabin is rich in luxuries such as a steering wheel and seats that can be heated (or cooled), navigation, Bluetooth, and dual touchscreens.

Performance

The INFINITI Q50 is outfitted with a turbo 4, 2-liter engine that can generate up to 208 horsepower, which is connected to a seven-speed automatic. Drivers also have the option of upgrading to a V6 that is even more powerful. The Chevrolet Sonic is restricted to a turbo 4 engine, which is 1.4 liter and limited to a maximum of 138 horsepower with 148 pounds of torque.

The Bottom Line

The Chevrolet Sonic is no match for the INFINITI. It has inferior performance, its rear seat is cramped and the base models are quite Spartan. It certainly costs less, and this is because it does less, making the Q50 the car of choice for those who demand power, performance and luxury.
