2019 INFINITI QX50 vs. 2019 Honda Passport | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

2019 INFINITI QX50 vs. 2019 Honda Passport

The 2019 Honda Passport is an excellent SUV in many respects. It has a roomy interior, a potent V6 engine, and excellent value for the price. But how does it stack up to the 2019 INFINITI QX50, an SUV which has dominated the market due to its abundance of trim options, serene interior, exceptional performance and safety tech?

Design & Style

The QX50 is well-engineered in all respects. Inside surfaces and seats are covered in authentic leather with the option to add headliners made from blue suede or diamond quilt. Outside, the nose is beautifully sculpted, with a hood that is aggressive and a prominent grille that proudly displays the company’s logo. Visually, the 2019 Honda Passport is both clean and cohesive. It has excellent proportion, with a side profile that has strong lines which extend to the back wheels. Buyers can add a roof rack, and inside the cabin is covered in dark, sophisticated trim with buttons that are carefully positioned for convenience.

Technology & Safety

The Honda Passport has earned an NHTSA five star safety rating. This is due to the large assortment of safety countermeasures it has, such as a monitor with surround view, lane control, cruise control that is adaptive, emergency automated brakes and blind area monitoring. Inside, passengers will be treated to all sorts of perks, including heated/cooled front seats, USB ports, touchscreens with eight inches, a moon roof, an audio system and the option of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  The INFINITI QX50 is equipped with many of the same safety features as the Passport, along with a camera for the rearview, frontal impact warnings and parking sensors. It even provides a suite that is semi-autonomous called ProPilot Assist that will give drivers even greater protection.

Performance

The QX50 comes with a turbo 4, 2-liter engine that can produce 268 horsepower. The engine is so advanced in fact that it can alter the manner in which it conserves fuel to give the vehicle more power. The Honda Passport comes with a V6, 3.5-liter engine that can produce 280 horsepower with 262 pounds of torque.

The Bottom Line

These two SUVs are close in price, safety tech, interior amenities, and performance, so choosing one won’t be easy. Although the Honda Passport has lots of horsepowers, its fuel economy is inferior to the INFINITI, especially given the fact that the QX50 uses an engine which is variable compression which results in a thirty percent fuel economy enhancement, and the interior of the Honda Passport was also found to use a few low-end parts, so the INFINITI wins.
