2019 INFINITI QX50 vs. 2019 Chevrolet Blazer | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

2019 INFINITI QX50 vs. 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

The 2019 Chevrolet Blazer impresses with its new design, greater towing capacity, and the option to use either V6 or inline 4 engines. But how does it compare to the 2019 INFINITI QX50, an SUV which has dominated the market for a number of years?

Design & Style

The QX50 has a roomy interior that is absolutely opulent. The dash is stitched, and the seats are soothing. One gets even better options with the more expensive trim, such as authentic leather, diamond stitching and suede inserts. Externally, the QX50 borrows design elements seen in other INFINITI models, but still maintains its own distinct flair. The newest Chevrolet Blazer has been completely redesigned. It is moderately sized, capable of seating five people, and can be purchased in numerous trims, such as Premier, RS, L and LT. The sides of the vehicles are sculptured, the canopy floats, and the dash resembles outstretched wings.

Technology & Safety

Although the Chevrolet Blazer has numerous safety features, drivers aren’t thrilled that the SUV lacks emergency automatic brakes. Until this feature becomes standard, it shouldn’t be considered family friendly. It does have blind area monitoring, climate control which is automated, cruise control which is adaptive, and a camera with surround view capabilities. The QX50 has outstanding fuel efficiency, and unlike the Blazer uses emergency automatic brakes as a standard feature. It also has frontal impact warnings, Bluetooth support, an infotainment system which is dual screen, and front seats that can be power adjusted.

The INFINITI QX50 houses a turbo 4, 2 liter engine that can alter its power delivery based on the needs of the driver, and accomplishes this through displacement. The turbo 4 produces up to 268 horsepower, which is more than enough for most drivers. The QX50 also utilizes a CVT, or transmission which is continuously variable, on each trim level, which phases out the seven speeds seen in older editions. The Chevrolet Blazer contains an inline 4 engine that can produce up to 193 horsepower with an automatic 9 speed transmission. Drivers also have the option of upgrading to a V6 which gives them 308 horsepower.

The Bottom Line

The Chevrolet Blazer and INFINITI QX50 are well matched in a number of areas, including price, interior amenities and performance. Unfortunately for Chevrolet, the QX50 edges out the Blazer when it comes to the luxury design of its interior. Plus, the Blazer isn’t much larger than the Chevrolet Equinox and the fact that it lacks automatic emergency brakes as a standardized feature means the INFINTI wins.
