2019 INFINITI QX30 vs. 2019 Kia Niro | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

2019 INFINITI QX30 vs. 2019 Kia Niro

Kia has made a name for itself in the SUV market by releasing the 2019 Kia Niro. This compact SUV has a highly efficient powertrain, affordable price tag, and serene and roomy interior. But how does it stack up against the 2019 INFINITI QX30, an SUV which has received praise for its elegant interior, all-wheel drive and brisk handling?

Design & Style

The QX30 has a composed appearance, which draws attention without being gaudy. It has swooping LED lights and smooth curvature in most places with a few sharp touches here and there. The infotainment within the cabin is completely integrated, with an easy to use dashboard and materials which are upmarket such as nappa leather and natural wood. The Kia Niro is distinctive for its creases and bends. Whereas many SUVs these days are too busy, the designers at Kia kept it simple, yet refined, and it works. The roof is extended, with headlights that stretch further back along the fenders. The majority of the interior surface is made of matte plastic which is black in color, with some high gloss areas especially near its gear shifter.

Technology & Safety

The IIHS likes the Kia Niro a lot, so much so that it gave it the Top Safety Pick award. It has done well on its crash tests, and comes with a variety of safety features such as automated emergency brakes, (only on the EX or LX trims), blind area monitoring and airbags. Luxuries within the cabin include Bluetooth support, USB connectivity, seven inch touch screens and the option of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. The INFINITI QX30 is far more extensive when it comes to safety countermeasures. It has lane departure notifications, blind area monitoring, a camera with surround view, headlights that are high beam and cruise control that is adaptive, and unlike the Kia, its automated emergency brakes are offered as a standard feature on all variants. Interior perks include seven inch touchscreens, power seats covered in leather, keyless ignition and climate control that is dual zone.

The INFINITI QX30 comes with a turbo 4, 2 liter engine that is capable of generating 208 horsepower with 258 pounds of torque, which is wedded to a dual clutch seven speed automatic transmission. The Kia Niro uses an electric motor, which works in conjunction with an inline 4 1.6 liter engine that can generate up to 139 horsepower, allowing it to cruise from zero to 60 in 8.6 seconds.

The Bottom Line

The engineers at Kia put in a great effort when designing the Niro, but the INFINITI is superior across the board. It has better performance, more luxury features and its emergency automatic brakes come standard, and you get all this for a price tag that is only slightly higher, so the QX30 wins.
