2018 INFINITI QX60 vs. 2018 Subaru Ascent | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

2018 INFINITI QX60 vs. 2018 Subaru Ascent

The 2018 INFINITI QX60 has dominated the premium SUV market with its excellent standardized equipment, spacious cabin, and classy exterior. But the introduction of the 2018 Subaru Ascent, with its active safety features, marvelous infotainment system, and excellent powertrain has left many wondering which of the two is supreme.

Design & Safety

The QX60 is distinctive due to its grille which is puckered, along with its punctuated headlights and accents made from chrome. On the sides the vehicle displays a graceful kickback which is shaped like a crescent, and within the cabin, every surface is covered in only the highest quality materials. The Subaru Ascent has a very attractive exterior which is noted by its larger beak, grille and pronounced fenders and wheels which are 18 inches. Within the cabin, it has an assortment of family-friendly features which include touchscreens which are standardized and accommodation for the storage of small items for safekeeping.

Technology & Safety

The Subaru Ascent uses the same robust exoskeleton that is found in most of its models, and which is highly resistant to impacts. As a result, the IIHS has given it favorable ratings, due to this and another distinctive feature it has called “EyeSight”, which is an array of active safety countermeasures which include cameras that are windshield mounted frontal impact warnings, emergency brakes which are automated and high beams. Within the cabin, passengers will be treated to lots of cup holders, climate control, USB ports, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, a moon roof which is panoramic, and seats that can be heated or cooled. The INFINITI QX60 has received a five-star rating due to the protection it offers against rollovers and frontal collisions. Passengers can expect lots of airbags, along with a system for stability control and traction and a camera with surround view. The cabin is truly luxurious, with eight-inch touchscreens, leather upholstery, support for Bluetooth, heated seats which can be power adjusted, and a power lift gate.

The INFINITI QX60 comes with a V6, 3.5 liter engine that can produce up to 295 horsepower through its automatic transmission which is continuously variable. It also has the ability to tow a maximum of 5,000 pounds. The Subaru Ascent houses a turbo 4, 2 liter engine that can produce up to 260 horsepower with 277 pounds of torque. It can go from zero to sixty in about 7.4 seconds.

The Bottom Line

Both of these SUVs are evenly matched when it comes to their looks, amenities and performance. However, some have complained about the nervous throttle of the Subaru Ascent, its lack of a hybrid powertrain and its overpriced top trim, so the INFINITI QX60 is the winner.
