2018 INFINITI QX30 VS. 2018 HYUNDAI TUCSON | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

The 2018 INFINITI QX30 has dominated the market with its breathtaking style, superb handling, an array of trim options and world-class interior. But it faces a true contender in the 2018 Hyundai Tucson, an SUV renowned for its appealing looks, quiet cabin, and outstanding fuel economy. Which of the two is superior?

Design & Style

The Hyundai Tucson has an interior which has been organized well. It has a grille with six sides, headlights which are defined geometrically, alloy wheels that are 19 inches, stitched trim in the interior, and an elegant dash overall. The knobs and buttons have also been reshaped for ease of use, which is a major improvement over previous models.

The INFINITI QX30 has a back and front fascia which is aggressive, with wheels that are 19 inches and an interior infotainment unit that has been high mounted. The surfaces of the QX30 are well stitched, with an upmarket look that will appeal to those looking for elegance.

Technology & Safety

INFINITI takes the safety of its vehicles seriously, which is evident in the suite of features offered by the QX30, which consist of seven airbags, brakes with anti-lock capabilities, stability control, a camera for the rear view, and warnings for departing lanes and monitoring of blind spots. Within the cabin, passengers can expect luxuries such as seven-inch touchscreens, front seats which are adjustable, keyless ignition and climate control which is dual zone. Audio is provided by Bose.

Although the Hyundai Tucson has done well on crash tests, it is limited when it comes to the most advanced safety tech. For instance, while it has many of the features found in the QX30, you don’t get emergency automatic brakes or warnings for forward collisions unless you buy the most expensive variant. Its interior amenities do impress, however, with satellite radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power seats which can be adjusted, Bluetooth support, and 5-inch touchscreens.

The standard Hyundai Tucson comes with a standard 2 liter, 164 horsepower inline 4 engines. However, when compared to the INFINITI, it is underpowered, as the QX30 comes with a standard inline 4, 2-liter engine which is capable of producing 208 horsepower with 258 pounds of torque. Its engine is also turbocharged, with a seven-speed transmission that is dual clutched.

The Bottom Line

Even though the 2018 Hyundai Tucson is a dramatic improvement over previous models, sharp-eyed buyers will notice that it does less than the INFINITI QX30. Its performance is more inferior, standard models don’t have the same level of safety features, interior space is tight and the throttle has a twitchy feel. That’s why it is clear that the INFINITI QX30 wins.
