2018 INFINITI QX30 VS. 2018 GMC ACADIA | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

The 2018 INFINITI QX30 has dominated the SUV market due to its comfortable and lush interior, excellent handling and a wide selection of trim options. However, it faces competition from the 2018 GMC Acadia, an impressive SUV with a stellar performance, a relaxing interior of its own and a large assortment of trims. Which of the two should you buy?

Design & Style

The GMC Acadia is both angular and rugged, especially when drivers select the All-Terrain package. The wheel openings are squared off and give it a look which resembles a truck more than most SUVs. But it works, largely due to the chrome strip which is uninterrupted as it wraps around the two rows in front.

The INFINITI QX30 has styling which is tugged and Z shaped. The FWD variants are closer to the ground than the AWD version, with an exterior that is pristine. The center stack in the cabin is well-structured and vertical, with an infotainment system that is high mounted.

Technology & Safety

The QX30 is well equipped to ensure its passengers are protected at all times. This includes 7 airbags, a camera with surround view capabilities, stability control, and anti-lock brakes and warnings for lane departures. Within the interior passengers will get to enjoy additional perks such as keyless ignition, front seats that can be manually adjusted eight ways, multi-zone climate control and touchscreens which are seven inches. A panoramic sunroof is also available when one gets the Premium edition.

The GMC Acadia has done well crash tests, and like the INFINITI, it is packed with cutting-edge safety features. These include 7 airbags, stability control, a camera for the rearview, parking sensors, notifications for cross traffic in the rear, and automatic emergency brakes. Additional comforts include Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay, seven-inch infotainment screens, climate control, and the ability to seat seven.

The GMC Acadia comes with a standard inline 4, 2.5-liter engine that can produce up to 193 horsepower with 188 pounds of torque. It does not use a turbocharger but has an automatic transmission which is six speeds. The INFINITI QX30 is turbocharged, with an inline 4, 2-liter engine capable of producing 208 horsepower with 258 pounds of torque.

The Bottom Line

The INFINITI QX30 and GMC Acadia are similar in many areas. However, the Acadia has a number of things working against it. Aside from the fact that it isn’t turbocharged and therefore lacking in performance, the 4 cylinder engine is insufficient, the third row is tighter than it should be, and although it has good safety tech, much of it comes as optional features and too pricey, so the QX30 wins easily in this comparison.
