2018 INFINITI Q60 VS. 2018 LEXUS RC 350 | Competition INFINITI of Smithtown

2018 INFINITI Q60 VS. 2018 LEXUS RC 350

The luxury coupe lineup of vehicles has been in a state of disarray for the last few years, but things have changed with the release of the 2018 Lexus RC 350 and the 2018 INFINITI Q60. Both vehicles have a bunch of fresh additions which include a unique two-door system. Both can also be tested and purchased at our facility in St. James, New York.

Design & Style

The Q60 has spectacular styling and is basically the coupe version of the legendary Q50 sedan. It has a cabin that is rich in technical features, as well as three engine types. While the Lexus RC 350 has a number of design similarities with other models under the Lexus marquee, it is very distinctive in its own right and has been subject to a number of equipment modifications.

Technology & Safety

When it comes to technology and safety the Q60 and RC 350 are at a draw. Both incorporate ABS brakes, passenger airbags, curtain airbags, and airbags in the front side and for the driver. The Q60 comes with a standard sun/moon roof which the RC 350 does not have. Other than that, the two are a match in terms of power windows, power locks, and air conditioning and passenger power seats. Both vehicles seat four people, and while the Lexus has slightly more leg room in the front, the INFINITI has slightly more leg room in the back.

Both the RC 350 and Q60 come in numerous engine types which depend on the model. For instance, the Q60 2.0t utilizes a 4 cylinder engine which is turbocharged with 2 liters. It produces a maximum of 208 horsepower along with torque at 258 Ib ft. which is impressive, and the acceleration is also noteworthy. The RC 350 is equal in terms of the engine, but since it weighs more than the Q60, this would have an adverse effect on its maneuverability. Newer variants of the Q60 also utilize the 3.0t which incorporates a V6 engine that is twin turbo and maxes out at 300 hp with torque at 295 Ib ft. By comparison, the AWD of the RC 350 is only slightly better. Regarding the rear wheel drive, the Q60 has an automatic which is 7 speeds while the RC 350 is 8 speeds.

The Bottom Line

The RC 350, while having some advantages over the Q60, is ultimately hampered by its weight. The Q60 performs better, comes with a sun/moon roof as a standard feature and looks better than the Lexus, which has an exterior that some have found to be rather plain by comparison. The RC 350 does have a respectable fuel economy, however, which is a bonus to those that desire it. The Q60’s fuel economy about the same and when you consider the acceleration, performance and reasonable price tag that more than makes up for it. Therefore the Q60 is the better buy.
