2018 INFINITI Q50 vs. 2017 Nissan Maxima

If you are currently looking to purchase a new sporty sedan then you may find the 2018 INFINITI Q50 and Nissan Maxima topping your list. Car buyers in St. James, New York are not too sure which car to purchase, so COMPETITION INFINITI has put together this comparison guide, to show why the Q50 beats the Maxima overall.

Design & Style

A restyling for the Q50 sees the changes to the front and rear fascias giving this sedan a sporty, stylish look, all muscles and broad shoulders. The interior is exceptional, with comfort a major factor. There are NASA-based technology leather-trimmed seats that are eight-way power adjustable with lumbar support. Automatic dual-zone climate control will maintain the cabin’s temperature, while a 14-speaker Bose audio system will entertain. In this model, INFINITI is proud to feature their InTouch infotainment system, with its 8-inch upper screen and 7-inch lower screen.

The Maxima is a good-looking vehicle; all power lines and strong angles that look like there is a lot of power under the bonnet. The Nissan base model has an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, two USB ports and power adjusted seats. Upgrade to get heated front seats, leather upholstery, and an eleven-speaker Bose audio system. Mahogany wood-tones can also be added for a price.

Technology & Safety

The Maxima is packed with the normal set of standard safety features, such as airbags and stability control. It also is fitted with forward collision warning and blind spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert. An upgrade will get you drowsy driver alert, moving object detection and a surround-view camera system. The INFINITI Q50 also has all the normal airbags and stability control, coupled with anti-lock braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and forward collision warning. You can upgrade to get the Direct Adaptive Steering, and Distance Control Assist, which maintains a safe distance to the car in front of you if you take your foot off the accelerator.

The Nissan has a 3.5-liter V6 engine that pulls 300 horsepower with 261 lb-ft of torque. It has front-wheel drive and continuously variable transmission (CVT) that can be paddle shifted. The Q50 base car has a 2.0-liter engine that pulls 208hp with 258 lb-ft of torque. There is a 3.0-liter V-6 version that has 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Both are run on a seven-speed automatic transmission. It can hit 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.

The Bottom Line

It is fairly obvious that the Q50 is the car of choice, as it outperforms the Maxima in many areas. If you are looking for comfort, performance, technology, and safety, then the INFINITI is the car to go for.
